In the rain, Windward students swap flip flops for wellies and shades for umbrellas. Students huddle together as they pass between classes dodging rain drops and seeking shelter in the art classroom and lower level of the science center. The normally dry wash in the heart of the campus becomes a favorite spot for students and faculty as the water rises and rushes through. A beloved campus memory is the story of Lucky the dog. Found by a member of the Windward staff, the stray puppy was rescued from the wash following a recent storm. The campus community quickly came to his aid and the puppy was soon adopted by a senior student. Lucky is now a representative of the Windward spirit.
